Why Use Online Video?

Below are some benefits of online video.

Improve Your Google ranking.
Google ranks video higher.Google and other search engines such as Bing and Yahoo rank websites with properly optimised and submitted video higher than standard sites containing only text and images.
This makes online video an affordable and effective marketing tool.
In short, online video is great for SEO.

Convert Browsers into Buyers.
BuyersProduct videos boost the prospect of viewers buying.

Reduced costs.
The cost of producing video has reduced dramatically in recent years and in most cases is free to distribute online.
The price of a video is sometimes cheaper than the price of print adverts – and lasts longer, thus reducing your advertising costs.

More information in less time.
As an audio-visual medium, video can deliver a lot more information in less time.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a thousand pictures!

Higher recall and response from viewers.
Higher recallThe combination of visuals and audio has been proven to (a) help viewers remember more of the information (higher ‘retention’ or ‘recall’ rates) and (b) make viewers more likely to act or respond (make a purchase or look for further information).

Measurability.
Your video content and its performance can be measured with video analytics such as YouTube Analytics.
This allows you to track and measure specific aspects of your video content’s performance such as:
- how many times it was watched;
- which parts were watched, for how long;
- where it was viewed from;
- did people like the video and link it, etc.
This shows what aspects of your product/service and online marketing are attracting most attention or what may need changing.

People prefer to press ‘Play’!
Most of us would rather watch a video about something than read through lots of text.
Attention spans online are short, giving you less time to grab attention and get your message across.
Video is the ideal solution.

Make a good impression.
Online VideoVideo makes a good impression.
Think of it as your digital window display to capture the attention and curiosity of customers.
A well-made creative video with clear communication is simply more enjoyable than many other types of media.
It also helps you stand out from competition.
Plus, good video content will (correctly!) give the impression that you are up to date with your communication and technology!

YouTube is a search engine too!
YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine after Google.
Most of us will instinctively Google something and increasingly want to see a video about it.
Plus, as Google own YouTube, they both complement each other more than ever.

Huge growth.
Video is the fastest growing communication and marketing tool online.
And as connection speeds get faster, viewing video has become easier.
If your business has an online presence, online video can help.
Get with it or get left behind.

How Much Does it Cost?

Cost of online videoFINAL PRICE ALWAYS DEPENDS ON DURATION AND CONTENT.

Every project is different.

There is no one-size-fits-all. For example, a 3-minute 'talking head' interview would cost less than a 1-minute video which requires lots of shots and animation.

Filmed video costs less than full animation/motion grahphics as animation is more labour intensive.

All prices include:
Script writing or consultation, planning, filming and/or 2D animation, editing, up to 4 draft videos, delivery for web, Video Search Engine Optimisation, after sales support, files archived for 2 years.

Optional extras: Professional Voice Over, music, actors, aerial filming, green screen or studio hire, 3D animation.

When contacting Icon for a quote, please include as much info as possible: content, duration, links to any similar examples, any optional extras (music, narration, actors) required.

How Long Does it Take to Make a Video?

How long does a web video take to make?Again, this depends entirely on the content and duration.

For a typical promotional video of one to three minutes, four weeks is average from initial concept to final delivery. Some take less time, some take more.

Gaps in communication (perhaps where the client is busy with other work) often extend the time.

Concept and script is often the longest part of the process – which is natural, because coming up with a good concept is usually the most difficult part!

How Long Should my Video(s) be?

How long should my web video be?Brevity is best for most online promotional and marketing videos.

A short video – or a series of short videos – is best for online.

Attention spans are shorter online.

If you have several aspects to cover, a better option may be to have several shorter videos – like chapters – rather than one long video.

Often, three 1-minute videos may be preferable to one 3-minute video.

Of course, you may have a video that requires a longer running time. For example, a ‘How-To’ instructional video.

Where will my video be seen?

Social MediaUnless there is a specific reason not to, your video content will be uploaded to a video sharing website, embedded in your own website and shared on social media.

Video Sharing Website
There are many video sharing websites – Vimeo being a superb example – but YouTube is by far the biggest and most recognisable. Therefore, from an SEO perspective at least, YouTube is the best option.
Your video content will be ‘hosted’ on YouTube. This simply means that it is uploaded to YouTube – it ‘lives’ on YouTube.

Your Website
Video(s) can be embedded in your own website from YouTube, which simply means that it can appear within your own website.
It is important that you embed relevant video content on relevant pages on your website – this is hugely beneficial in aiding your Google ranking.

Social Media
Video can also be shared with increasing ease on social media.

What is 'S.E.O.'?

What is SEO?“S.E.O.” stands for “Search Engine Optimisation” – having your website and its content properly set up so that search engines can find it. This helps people find your site more easily and quickly.

Google, Yahoo and Bing are all search engines. You search for something and they list results.

The higher your ranking is to the top, the more likely you’ll get clicked.

Having a great video or pretty website is not much good if nobody knows it exists or cannot find it. That’s what SEO is for.

Most people now search for products/services on Google rather than in the Yellow Pages book, hence making SEO very important for your business.

Video is up to 50 times more likely to receive a higher result in 'organic’ SEO (which is free, as opposed to paid, e.g. Google AdWords).

However, video does not guarantee top Google rankings. It simply gives you a better fighting chance against your competition.
